About

I’m Atul — अतुल — a Sanskrit name meaning incomparable or infinite.

I live in these worlds:

  • mathematics tutor, lighting up young minds with the beauty of abstract partterns
  • singer, all I got is my red guitar, three chords and the truth
  • blogger, trying to make sense of the jumble of thoughts in inside my head
  • dancer, living for that special tanda where the world dissapears

I started learning Argentine tango in March 2019 in London. My real learning took place in 2024 and 2025 in Buenos Aires with maestra Noelia Coletti and practice partner Vicky Ramirez.

Why Tango Stillness?

My uncle in India flew on an aeroplane for the first time at the age of seventy. He told me how, after the loud engine take-off, the plane suddenly became still.

If music is the silence between the notes, then the tango for me is in the stillness inside motion.

This blog is where I reflect on the many twists and turns of my journey. On learning, on the cities and milongas I dance at and the events in my life that have shaped my tango.
